Netflix's The Crown has chosen its new Prince Philip, former Outlanders and Game of Thrones star, Tobias Menzies.
He'll be taking over Matt Smith and has been signed on for seasons three and four of the royal drama.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, initially, Paul Bettany was selected to play the role but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts.
Instead, Menzies, a seasoned theatre and screen actor, will step into the drama.
After playing Catyln Stark's brother, Edmure Tully in Game of Thrones, an OBY-GYN in Catastrophe and countless other roles—including is Golden Globe-nominated performance of Frank in Outlander—Menzies is up for the challenge.
Queen Elizabeth's actor, Claire Foy, said on Instagram: "I'm extremely happy for this (Tobias Menzies). He's an incredibly, good-looking and talented actor. I reckon he'll do a great job as well as Olivia and Helen."
Foy is also being replaced by actor Olivia Colman.
And the third major replacement is the role of Princess Margaret.
Helena Bohman-Carter will be the new Princess Margaret, according to Vanessa Kirby, who played Margaret in the first two seasons.
The next season isn't expected to air until summer 2019.
Meanwhile, in the real-life Royal Family, Prince Philip did not attend the public pre-Easter Maundy Thursday church service in Windsor due to an issue with his hip.
There's no word yet on whether the 96-year-old will make the Easter Sunday service with the Royal Family at St. George's Chapel.
