Grab your ugliest Christmas sweater and your running shoes, because you’ll need them to participate in this good cause!
Payton Comazzetto, an Adventure Therapy student at TRU, is hosting Brennan’s Ugly Sweater Run on Dec. 2, in honour of her late brother Brennan Commazzetto.
According to Payton, her brother loved Christmas. Sadly, his life was taken from him at the age of 10 when a drunk driver hit Brennan while riding his bike near the family home.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Boys and Girls Power Start program. Last year, the 5 kilometre walk or run raised $7,570 for the program which fed more than 26 children breakfast for an entire year!
A minimum donation of $10, or $35 for a family of four or more, must be given in order to participate.
Can’t participate in the run but still want to donate? No problem!
Payton has started a GoFundMe page with the hope of raising as much money as possible until the event day. So far, $1,599 has been raised.
The Dec. 1 event will take place at 10 a.m. at the Aberdeen West Highland Community Centre. To sign up, visit the GoFundMe page, make a donation and leave a comment with the names of the attendees.
Be sure to sign up now as you will have the chance to win a number of cool prizes including a 60-minute massage, a gift card to the Aberdeen Mall or a prize package from the Kamloops Blazers!
