A&W has brought back an iconic item that disappeared from the fast-food chain’s menu back in 2017.
Starting today, the Whistle Dog is once again available at A&W locations across Canada.
It may not have the same fame as the McPizza, but it’s still a menu item that grew a dedicated following before it was taken off the menu.
It’s a hot dog in a toasted bun with relish, cheddar cheese and bacon.
Over the past five years, there have been petitions and various other campaigns aimed at getting A&W to bring the Whistle Dog back and it appears as though they finally worked.
In fact, one dedicated Whistle Dog fan even went out of his way to comment “Bring back the Whistle Dog!” on every single A&W Instagram post since 2021.
"Our guests have been very persistent," explained Amanda Wang, director of national promotions and loyalty at A&W.
"Given our new partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays, this felt like the perfect summer to bring back the Whistle Dog and give the people what they want."
Unfortunately, the popular item will only be back for a limited time; at least that’s what A&W is saying for now.
