Beer column: Sunday is National Beer Day and British Columbians love their pale ales

It has come to my attention that Sunday is National Beer Day.

In fact, I received a press release from a bit of a strange source when it comes to craft beer, which is casino.ca.

Look, we get a lot of press releases from PR people and companies like this, pushing their latest research on a certain subject.

That’s exactly what happened this week and casino.ca has revealed some interesting data on British Columbia and Canada’s favourite beers ahead of National Beer Day.

So I have no clue how accurate this data is, but I’m still going to use it as inspiration for this week’s column when it says that BC’s favourite type of craft beer is a pale ale.

Here are three of the province’s best pale ales that you can enjoy this weekend:

Twin Sails Brewing - Dat Juice Citra Pale Ale (5.2% ABV)

“Dat Juice is an unfiltered pale ale brewed with large amounts of flaked and malted wheat, then heavily dry hopped with 100% Citra hops. It pours a cloudy pale straw colour with bright aromatics of grapefruit, pineapple and mango.”

Driftwood Brewery - Driftwood Pale Ale (5% ABV)

R&B Brewing - Dude Chilling Pale Ale (5.2% ABV)

A refreshing and drinkable American Pale Ale. Dude Chilling is dry-hopped with Galaxy, Citra, Cascade and Centennial to give flavours reminiscent of marmalade, honeydew melon and geraniums.
