Look, I’ll start this by clarifying that I realize it’s technically against the law to consume alcohol in most dog parks.
So I’m not exactly condoning what my headline implies, but I’m also not…not condoning it, if that makes sense?
And to all my Kelowna readers, alcohol is permitted at Cedar Creek Park, an off-leash dog beach and park off Lakeshore Road, so there’s at least one dog park where you can bring these beers without fear of repercussions!
The reason I’m saying all of this, and what the headline is referring to, is that this week’s beer column feature is the Dog Park mixed pack from Yellow Dog Brewing.
It contains four light and crisp beers to keep you refreshed, which sounds perfect for this hot final long weekend of summer.
Inside the Dog Park mixed pack, you'll find two each of Yellow Dog’s Roll Over Cerveza Negra, Retriever Golden Ale, Rascal Japanese Lager and Pack Leader Pilsner.
While this black lager is a dark and chestnut brown in colour, but it still has a relatively light body. Expect the aroma and taste of toasted malts and caramel with a dry finish that leaves your palate with remnants of dried fruit.
The brewery calls this one bright, easy drinking and refreshing. Its pale golden colour gives you an instant idea of how light-bodied this beer is. Expect a subtle tropical hop aroma and a clean thirst-quenching finish.
This international-inspired brew is a perfect addition to the Dog Park mixed pack and is even more ideal if you’re at the park with your Shiba Inu. It has floral notes and a dry finish, offering up a light, refreshing and balanced beer.
A crisp and refreshing creation that's an underrated favourite at Yellow Dog. The brewery calls it a “wonderfully-balanced” German Pilsner that pays homage to its root, but also stays true to the Yellow Dog craftsmanship.
