It’s the first beer column of fall!
As the days get shorter and the weather turns, you’ll probably find yourself drawn to darker, heavier beers that warm you up as you embrace the arrival of cozy season.
Langley’s Dead Frog Brewery has wasted no time in providing beer drinkers with a few fun options for fall and you can bet they’ll have more on the way over the coming weeks.
While many will know Dead Frog for their sours and the Juice Box Sour Mixer, one of the brewery’s most popular beers is actually the Nutty Uncle Peanut Butter Stout.
According to the brewery, it’s loaded with a variety of eight “choice malts,” roasted cocoa beans and real peanut butter.
The result is a creamy milk stout with dark chocolate flavour and smooth hints of peanut butter to go with a slightly-sweet finish.
While the Nutty Uncle has become a mainstay at Dead Frog over the years, it’s now joined by a brand new creation called the Nutty Auntie Chocolate Hazelnut Porter.
This one is also loaded with eight different malts and it’s described as a creamy stout with flavours of milk chocolate, rich hints of hazelnut and a sweet, silky-smooth finish.
Both beers register at 6.1% ABV (alcohol by volume) and 24 IBUs (international bitterness units), and you’ll be able to buy them together in the new Nutty Family Pack!
And there’s a third member of Dead Frog’s fall lineup that’s already being consumed around the province, as the brewery launched an intriguing Pumpkin Spice Creamsicle beer earlier this month.
“A smooth, creamy and cozy seasonal brew packed with pumpkin and perfectly balanced with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice,” the brewery explains.
The Pumpkin Spice Creamsicle comes in at 4.2% ABV and only six IBUs.
