Today is McHappy Day, which means it’s a great opportunity to indulge in a Big Mac, McFlurry or whatever your McDonald’s favourite is, all for a great cause.
A portion of the proceeds from all menu items sold at McDonald’s locations across Canada today will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and other local children’s charities.
This year, the fast-food giant has teamed up with Canadian actor Simu Liu, who is the official ambassador of McHappy Day.
Liu says he’s thrilled to be a part of such an important fundraiser.
"RMHC has been a vital support for thousands of families during their most difficult times, and I am happy to be part of the fundraising initiative this year,” the Marvel star said.
“It's so important to come together as a community to help those in need, and I look forward to working with RMHC and McDonald's to make a difference."
Along with proceeds from everything purchased today, customers have other options to contribute to the cause.
McHappy Day socks are available while supplies last for $5 plus tax, and people can also donate $2, $5 or $10 to get a McHappy Day heart.
Since the first Ronald McDonald House opened its doors in Toronto more than 40 years ago, fundraising programs like McHappy Day have helped RMHC support nearly 450,000 families across Canada.
