November is barely underway and Starbucks Canada is already ready for the holidays.
Although most try to avoid putting up their Christmas decorations until after Remembrance Day, the coffee chain is wasting no time in making their holiday cups and menu available.
Starting Thursday, hot beverages at Starbucks will be served in either a wrapping paper, ribbon, lights or candy cane holiday cup.
“Starbucks red cups are a portal to holiday joy,” said Suzie Reecer, Starbucks associate creative director.
“Anytime you’re holding the cup, we hope that it’s just filling you with the excitement of the season and reconnecting with friends and family.”
Of course, the return of holiday cups means the return of the holiday menu, which features a number of returning favourites and some exciting new options this year.
For drinks, the Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brûlé Latte and Chestnut Praline Latte will all return, as will the cold brew and americano Irish Cream options.
The new addition this year is the non-dairy Sugar Cookie Oat Latte, inspired by the classic Christmas cookie.
“We wanted to harness the buttery and vanilla notes of the cookie, which you can pick up in the aroma from that first sip from the sugar cookie flavoured syrup and sprinkles,” said Erin Marinan from Starbucks R&D.
“It reminds me of making cookies with my mom and sisters growing up. It gives me all the nostalgic feels of the holiday.”
To go with your holiday drink, classic festive treats like the Peppermint Brownie Cake Pop, Cranberry Bliss Bar, Gingerbread Loaf and Snowman Cookie will be back on the menu starting Thursday as well.
Leading up to Remembrance Day next week, Starbucks will be accepting cashless donations to the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Fund at the country or through the Starbucks app.
The coffee chain will also provide free tall coffees to veterans, current military members and military spouses on Nov. 11.
