The declining oil prices has forced many energy companies to make cuts and adjustments to their operations.

Horizon North Logistics laid off 48 skilled workers earlier this week in their manufacturing facility in Kamloops.

Horizon North is a company that provides accommodations, camp management, catering services, and road matting solutions for employees in the energy and mining industries.

Despite these layoffs, Horizon North CEO Rod Graham said on Wednesday morning that his company is proud of their operations and nearly 400 employees in Kamloops.

Graham said the company did their absolute best to find new positions for all employees in this transition however they were unable to find new jobs for everyone.

The longtime business leader said that the community should be proud of all of the made in Kamloops products being used throughout the energy industry around Canada.

Graham emphasized that Horizon North remains committed to their operations in the city and greatly appreciates doing business in the tournament capital of Canada.

Despite these layoffs Horizon North remains encouraged about the future of the company and the industry.
