Police Helicopter Relocation Under Review Again

BC RCMP Senior Media Officer Rob Vermeulen confirmed that the provincial government and the RCMP continue to have discussions about the re-location of the Kamloops police helicopter to the North District.

Vermeulen suggested that BC's Air Services fleets are strategically placed throughout the province in order to support our policing services and geography.

The assessment concluded recently that the re-aligning of these resources would be more effective by moving one of two helicopters currently in the Southeast District to our North District.

This move ensures that the North District has a helicopter in their region, which currently does not have access to any air service.

This BC North District region represents approximately 72 per cent of BC's geographic area.

Discussions about this re-location continue between the BC RCMP, government and community partners.
