Racism Focus of Panel Discussion at TRU

As questions have been raised recently about whether racism is an issue in Kamloops,a panel discussion at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) this week hopes to address this issue.

"Experience and Perception of Race and Racism in Contemporary Canada" is a panel discussion event co-sponsored by the TRU Faculty Association's Equity Committee and TRU World.

This event will be take place on Wednesday, March 25 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 pm. in the International Building in the Panorama Room.

The free event will feature a dialogue with Secwepemc Elder Mike Arnouse, student Vince Watson, Alejandro Campos-Garcia from the Sociology Department, Lisa Cooke from the Anthropology department, and moderator Monica Sanchez-Flores from the Sociology Department.

The panel discussion is being held to mark the International Day of the Elimination of Racism that took place on March 21.
