The celebration of Eid began at the Ayesha Mosque in Kamloops on Friday morning.
The celebration marks the end of the one month fast of Ramadan, where Muslims are encouraged to give charitably and adhere to a month of reflection and peace. During the fast, Muslims refrain from food and drink, including water, for as long as there’s sunshine.
For the first time, prayers were held outside. Imam Mazhar Mahmood said this year they wanted the public to have a positive view of Islam.
