There will be 350 new parking spots at the Royal Inland Hospital as the public parkade at the new Clinical Services Building opens on Monday.
Traffic patterns will be permanently changed and visitors are asked to be alert of the new signage directing traffic and parking.
The new parkade will be dedicated for public use in addition to the emergency department lot, Hillside Centre visitor parking, designated over height stalls east of Hillside Centre and short-term stalls by the main second-floor entrance.
Remaining parking on the property is to be used by employees, physicians and volunteers.
The new four-story parkade also includes an electronic car counter posted at the entrance that will notify the public of how many spaces are left.
The $80-million Clinical Services Building is set to open to patients by Aug.15.
