UPDATE: Evacuation order revised in Thompson-Nicola

UPDATE: May 19th, 11:00 a.m.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has downgraded Evacuation Orders to Evacuation Alerts for the following properties:

  • 1490 Greenstone Rd.
  • 5080 and 5096 Lazy Acres Rd.
  • 5012, 5064 and 5108 Trans Canada Hwy

The following properties remain on Evacuation Order:

  • 1472 and 1501 Greenstone Rd.
  • 5160 and 5168 Beaton Rd.
  • 5032 Trans Canada Hwy

Due to the flooding in the Nicola Valley, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has declared a State of Local Emergency.

The state of local emergency exists in Electoral Area "N" due to flooding.

Now that a state of local emergency has been declared, the Emergency Program Act is now in play.

This allows the TNRD to work around the waterways adding flood protection and putting erosion protection in place.

It also allows the TNRD to clear obstructions from bridges or culverts.

Residents are reminded that if they feel they are in imminent danger, they should evacuate immediately.
