The 47th annual Kamloops Farmers’ Market Outdoor Market is set to return to the downtown area next weekend.
This year, the Kamloops Earth Day & Walk for Peace, Social Justice and the Environment groups will be attending and hosting their event at the market on the opening day.
All the action will be starting at 8:30 am on Saturday, April 20.
The market will run until 12:30 pm on St. Paul Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenue.
The midweek markets, held on Wednesday, will not start up until May 1 and will run from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm in the 400-block of Victoria Street.
A news release from the farmers’ market organizers says activities for the Peace Walk will start at 10 am in the Stuart Wood schoolyard.
“Vendor interest has been strong for the outdoor market this year, with many returning vendors and several new vendors as well, the news release says.
“We anticipate a solid showing of vendors from all of our major vendor categories. All products are made, baked or grown by our vendors within BC, the majority within a 100 km radius of Kamloops.”
Residents will be able to browse booths full of fresh vegetables, a variety of locally harvested meat, farm fresh eggs and cheese, a variety of hanging plants, flowers and bedding plants, local jams and honey and fresh baked goods.
There will also be a wide variety of soaps and body care items, fabric arts, paintings, hand-crafted jewellery.
Both the Saturday and Wednesday markets will be operating, rain or shine, until Oct. 26.
