A 53-unit townhouse project in the Pineview Valley neighbourhood has been approved.
During the Tuesday meeting council agreed to issue the development permits for the project, which will be going up at 1800 Copperhead Drive.
A staff report said that council approved a combined rezoning development permit application in 2021 that split-zoned the property to RM3 and P1 to allow an 82-unit multi-family residential development in the form of two 4-storey, 41-unit multi-family buildings.
However, according to the report, the applicant has decided to go an “alternate route” due to financial reasons.
The report says the buildings will be three-storeys in height with a lot coverage of about 20%.
“To facilitate the development, the applicant has requested a variance to the front yard setback from 6 m to 4.5 m to accommodate the townhouse units on the site,” the staff report said.
According to the report, the developer is providing 147 parking stalls, which is 37 more than required by the city.
Each unit will get two parking spaces in a private garage. Sixteen visitor stalls will be provided.
The application was carried by an unanimous vote of support from council members.
