In just a few short weeks, the sixth annual Kamloops International Buskers Festival will be taking over Riverside Park.
The free, family-friendly festival will transform the park into a world-class stage, showcasing six amazing international street performers, from July 24 to 27.
Attendees will be in for quite the show as the six performers have won an impressive 45 festival awards.
There will be three outdoor stages set up, multiple busk stops, a music shop plus an outdoor marketplace filled with local vendors and food trucks.
“Each year, the festival grows in size and the support from the community,” said Lucas Sweet, Event Coordinator.
“What makes the Kamloops International Buskers Festival so powerful is how this festival connects people. You see strangers laughing together, kids dancing in the grass, and people from all walks of life coming out to support something joyful and free.”
To make the event even more engaging, organizers are bringing back the Morelli Chertkow Peoples Choice Award, where festival-goers vote for their favourite performer.
This year’s performers include two previous People's Choice Award winners plus four brand new acts.
Crowd favourites and People’s Choice Award winners, ZAP Circus from Australia, return with their high-energy mix of comedy, acrobatics, and fire.
Back by popular demand, Victor Rubilar of Argentina will be returning with his high-octane performance that blends soccer freestyle, comedy and dance.
Molly Keczan, a one-woman show from Ontario, will be taking the stage with amazing rope tricks, barnyard gymnastics and humour to get the crowd laughing.
Vancouver-based Quinn Besley will be bringing a mix of death-defying stunts and inspirational storytelling, all served with a big dose of humour.
Japan’s HEROMACRO brings a performance that is “equal parts strength, skill and absurd hilarity” and a show that fuses chopsticks and a wicked sense of humour.
Finally, Mexico's very own Pancho Libre is sure to get crowds going with astonishing feats of strength and balance.
