KamloopsBCNow is excited to take readers on a walk in the shoes of people with our city's most interesting jobs!
Terri Axani is the owner of DiVine Tours, but her chosen title is Director of Hospitality and Fun. "I am a lover of life and measure my success by the amount of fun that I am having," she says.
During my decade with the Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver I met many of the original Okanagan winery owners and winemakers. I was present for the launch of the BC VQA program and many special wine events.
It was an exciting time for B.C. wine and each year just gets better! When I planned DiVine Tours in 2002, I believed it would be back and forth between Kamloops and the Okanagan. I am thrilled that Kamloops is now home to four fabulous wineries and is B.C.'s newest wine region. Of course, we still tour to the Okanagan and beyond.
Washing and detailing the vehicles after each tour isn't something that I look forward to doing but when guests comment on the cleanliness it makes it worthwhile.
So many great moments but it would have to be the first mother's day tour when I overheard a mom say "This is the best gift you girls have ever given me.”
It would be a family (wedding, reunion or somebody's something) and they would be doing the DiVine Tasting Tour which is two Kamloops wineries and two breweries.
After picking them up at home they would sip and sample award winning wines, take time to enjoy an antipasto picnic on a patio, head back into town to do flights and snacks at our first stop and finish up with a brewery tour and flight at our final destination. Guaranteed 100% chance of fun and memories made.
The days are long and the season is short, but mapping out multiple addresses (including Sun Peaks) for pick up and drop offs can be challenging. Being the ultimate designated driver is an honour and privilege but can easily turn a six hour tour into 10 hours of travel.
A passion for people, our community, and just enough wine and beer knowledge to be dangerous.
Too many to list here (I truly practice what I preach) and it would be like choosing a favourite child! I do however have a favourite from each of the wineries and breweries that I visit and do a lot of "research in a glass" after hours.
