Two Canadians are waking up tens of millions of dollars richer today and one of them is almost certainly here in British Columbia.
The $70-million Lotto Max jackpot was won during Tuesday night’s draw and the massive prize was split between two tickets that matched all seven numbers.
One of the tickets was sold in Kamloops, while the other was sold in the Western Canada Lottery Corporation jurisdiction, which includes the prairies and territories.
The winning numbers were 15-16-17-18-43-44-48 (bonus 50).
While the data only shows where the winning tickets were purchased, it’s a pretty safe bet that one Kamloops resident is now $35 million richer.
But they weren’t the only big BC winner Tuesday night.
Three other tickets sold in Canada’s westernmost province won big as eight of the 26 Maxmillion prizes of $1 million were claimed.
Not far from Kamloops, a ticket sold in the Shuswap split a Maxmillion prize with someone from Ontario and will get paid out $500,000.
Two more ticket holders in the Lower Mainland, one in Vancouver and one in Delta, were solo winners and will cash in those tickets for $1 million.
Next up is the Lotto 6/49 draw tonight that features a $32 million Gold Ball jackpot, while Friday’s Lotto Max draw will still have a hefty jackpot of $28 million.
