The City of Kamloops is starting to get real smoky.
According to BC Air Quality, the air quality health index in Kamloops currently sits at 10+, which is considered "very high." This means at-risk residents like children and the elderly should avoid strenuous activity and stay indoors.
Over the last hour, Kamloops has had a particulate matter count of 106.5 micrograms per cubic metre. For those who don't know, a healthy particulate matter count is any number less than 25 ug/m3.
The last 24 hours saw Kamloops with an average particulate matter count of 97.7 ug/m3.
Environment Canada issued a special air quality statement for most of BC on Saturday. Smoke is expected to stick around the province for the next 24 to 72 hours.
