The British Columbia Lottery Corporation announced a new hiring for their Kamloops office on Thursday.
According to BCLC, Peter ter Weeme has been appointed as the new Vice President of Social Purpose and Stakeholder Engagement. With an MBA specializing in environmental management, ter Weeme's experience spans the world of corporate, government, and non-profit clients in North America, Europe, and Asia.
“We are thrilled to welcome Peter ter Weeme to BCLC, where his demonstrated experience will help strengthen our organization’s work to offer great gambling - and the greater good,” said Greg Moore, BCLC Interim President, and CEO. “As a 25-year veteran of the sustainability, social purpose, and social justice movements, Peter is well-positioned to lead BCLC in defining a new social purpose, while furthering our relationships with valued stakeholders across the province and industry overall.”
ter Weeme has advised companies and organizations on a range of values-based issues and developed various initiatives focused around climate action, conservation, public health, and diversity. Most recently, ter Weeme was the Executive Vice President of Purpose and Brand Citizenship for Elevator Strategy, a Vancouver-based marketing, and communications firm.
“BCLC has a long legacy of giving back to the citizens of B.C. and helping communities grow,” said ter Weeme. "I am energized by the opportunity to work with all of our stakeholders to unleash the full potential of being a social-purpose company that operates in the best interest of players and our province. My husband and I are also very excited to be relocating to Kamloops and enjoying everything the community has to offer.”
