A man in his late 50s has died after a head-on collision on the Trans-Canada Highway on Thursday.
According to the RCMP, the collision happened around 9:18 pm near the Big Sky Canco gas station between Savona and Walhachin.
A news release says initial reports indicated that a car was travelling westbound toward Ashcroft and crossed the center line.
The car collided with an eastbound SUV.
Sadly, the driver and lone occupant of the car, a man from 100 Mile House, was found trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Two occupants in the SUV were injured and taken to the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
A collision analyst attended the scene to help determine the main cause of the crash, which is preliminary believed to be the swerve into oncoming traffic.
The BC Coroners Service is conducting its own investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who might have dashcam footage is asked to contact the Kamloops Rural RCMP at (250) 314-1800 and refer to file 2025-4818.
