Barriere RCMP is reminding residents if they find explosives, leave them where they are.
The detachment went into full closure on Thursday when a man brought in explosive he said he found in a ditch outside.
According to police, the temporary closure occurred at 10 a.m. when the man dropped off what he believed were oilfield, work-site explosives. The building was evacuated, leading to a disruption of front counter services for close to six hours.
Though the disruption was long, police response to emergency calls during the time was unaffected.
After examining the bag, police believed the explosives were actually very old flares. The RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit then attended and safely disposed of the items.
"Anyone who finds materials that they suspect to be potentially explosive material, or other dangerous items, leave them where they are and to call 911 so that the items can be undisturbed and examined where they are located."
