The city has announced changes are on the way for the East Kamloops transportation network and two new parks are being added to the Valleyview/Orchards Walk/Dallas corridor.
A release from the city says a portion of the changes will happen alongside a proposed Pineridege development, which could see up to 450 residential units built.
Amendments to the Official Community Plan (OCP) and rezoning applications for a multi-unit development at the Pineridge Golf Course are currently being processed, the city says.
According to the release, the OCP amendments are to change the future land use designation of the property at 4725 Trans-Canada Highway East from Future Development Area to Urban, and Parks and Open Space.
The major development is set to be discussed at a public hearing this spring and, if approved, would see construction begin over the next few years.
As a part of the development, the Hwy 1 exit at Dallas Drive would need to be relocated about 300 metres to the west to access the site, Dallas and Barnhartvale.
In the release, the city says other transportation network changes would include:
A road network expansion connecting Dallas Drive to Valleyview Drive
A multi-use path for cyclists and pedestrians along the future Dallas-Valleyview Drive extension
Rerouted transit service from the Trans-Canada Highway to along the future Dallas-Valleyview Drive extension
Closure of Holman Road at Trans-Canada Highway with new access to the Kamview Heights Mobile Home and RV Park via the future Dallas-Valleyview Drive extension
As for the two new proposed parks, one would be constructed on the Pineridge development site and the other would be built on the east end of Orchards Walk. The silt bluffs south of the golf course would be dedicated as public open space, the release says.

The city is hosting an information session about the development on Thursday, April 4 form 6-8 pm at the Dallas Barnhartvale Baptist Church at 495 Todd Road.
Residents will be able to drop in to learn more about the changes and ask questions of city staff about the changes to the parks and transportation network.
Staff representatives for the application and the developer will also be on site to answer questions about the residential development.
