City of Kamloops says 3 dogs remain in custody following fatal attack

The City of Kamloops said its Community Services team is investigating the recent dog attack that happened over the weekend.

Late Monday afternoon, the city confirmed the three dogs, which were labelled as dangerous, have been captured.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family that lost their beloved dog yesterday,” the city said in a news release.

“This incident is a somber reminder of the profound impact such situations can have on families and their cherished pets.”

The three dogs are being held in the city’s custody as the investigation continues.

No other information has been released at this time but the city is encouraging witnesses to come forward and share any information they may have.

KamloopsNow reached out to the RCMP on Monday morning for information on the attack that was reported over the weekend, however, we have not heard back.

However, reports on social media and in other local media said three dogs attacked and killed a border collie.

"The safety and well-being of our community and their pets remain our highest priorities," the city said.

"We appreciate the community's understanding and will release more information if it becomes available."
