The City of Kamloops says it has resolved a dispute with Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 900 over the restructuring of the Community Services Division.
In a release issued Wednesday, the city says all outstanding issues have been resolved.
When the former Bylaw Services Division was restructured, it included more training in response to an increase in “crime and social disorder.”
“While the parties are bound by rules of strict confidentiality, we can confirm that the entirety of the dispute and all differences have been resolved to the satisfaction of the City and the Union,” the city says in the release, adding that the resolution was made in light of the arbitration decision released last summer.
“We are grateful that we are able to leverage the significant benefits of the restructuring and continue to serve the community.”
The release says city staff and council will continue to advocate for more support through the designation of Peace Officer status for the Community Safety Officers.
