The structure at city hall is getting a shake up, according to a release issued by the city on Tuesday.
Under the new corporate structure, Byron McCorkell has been promoted to full-time Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DAO).
McCorkell will now lead intergovernmental relations activities and priority projects like Build Kamloops.
He will retain supervision over the new Community and Culture Development which include recreation, culture and social and community development.
The city says McCorkell will also take over responsibility for the Communications and Community Engagement Division.
Fire Chief Ken Uzeloc will also be taking over new responsibilities for a freshly formed department.
The release says Uzeloc will be head of the new Protective Services Department which includes Kamloops Fire Rescue, Community Services, Emergency Management and RCMP Support Services.
Uzeloc will still be fire chief in addition to a director for the department.
The city says the new structure was designed to put more emphasis on council’s strategic priorities.
“There is no change to Civic Operations; Development, Engineering, and Sustainability; Corporate Services; or Human Resources and Safety,” the city says in a release.
All directors, including DAO, RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley and the city’s external relations division will continue to report to the city’s Chief Administrative Officer David Trawin.
