The City of Kamloops is looking to play it safe at arenas and hopes residents will pick up what they are laying down!
In honour of Arena Safty Week, which runs from now until Sunday, the City will be taking part in training simulations that put their safety knowledge in arenas to the test. Arena Safety Week is set to include hands-on opportunities to reinforce procedures that could keep the public safe in the event of an emergency.

“It’s imperative to continually reinforce the importance of arena safety procedures. Keeping our staff trained and prepared for the case of an emergency is a top priority,” said Jeff Putnam, the City’s Parks and Civic Facilities Manager.
In addition to staff training, a free public skate to celebrate the week is planned for Friday at the Sandman Centre. Following the 10 am to noon skate, free "Fanboni" rides will be given from noon to 2 pm.
During the public skate, which is on a non-instructional day for students, residents will have the opportunity to take photos with the Zamboni and test their arena safety skills to be entered to win prizes. Everybody is welcome.
