The Kamloops community is in mourning after learning Thompson Rivers University vice-president of advancement Christopher Seguin suddenly passed away on Friday. A memo was distributed earlier in the day to TRU staff that Seguin had fallen ill and was not expected to recover.
Seguin was an active Rotarian and well known within the community for his volunteer work, as well as his role at the university. He was appointed vice-president of advancement in July 2007.
The circumstances leading to his death have not been made public and his family has asked for privacy.
Many people have taken to social media to express condolences.
Deputy mayor Arjun Singh said on his Facebook page "Rest in Peace my dear brother. I loved you and didn't tell you often enough. I'm so shocked. We will surround your amazing family with love."
Kamloops-South Thompson MLA Todd Stone also took to social media to express his thoughts: "Chantelle and I are devastated by the loss of our dear friend Christopher Seguin. I often talk about Kamloops being a community that punches above it's weight in terms of all who live here looking after one another. Christopher embodied that spirit."
