Search warrants carried out at three locations earlier this week led to the seizure of contraband cannabis and tobacco.
The Kamloops RCMP say they were assisted by BC Ministry of Finance investigators on Tuesday to execute the warrant at two commercial locations and a house on Ricardo Road, Chief Louis Way, and the 600-block of Shuswap Road.
A “substantial” amount of cannabis and tobacco products, along with cash, were confiscated.
Superintendent Jeff Pelley, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Officer in Charge said the project was initiated due to potential ties to organized crime.
“It’s still early in this investigation and we’re not saying there is necessarily a specific link to this ongoing investigation, but it is something we are mindful of and proactive towards in our endeavor to enforce and suppress criminal activity in our communities,” said Sgt. Pelley.
One person was arrested and later released with no process as part of the investigation.
The RCMP reminds residents that the possession of contraband tobacco and cannabis is an offence under the Excise Act, contributes to the growth of organized crime and undermines public health objectives.
Anyone with information about illegal tobacco offences or other crimes is asked to contact their local police department. The Kamloops RCMP can be reached at (250) 828-3000.
