Thanks to a recent City Council decision, anyone visiting downtown Kamloops will soon benefit from lower parking fare.
During a council meeting on Tuesday, members had a 5-3 vote in favour of reducing parking meter prices.
The cost will now be $1.25 an hour for the first two hours and $2.50 for every hour that follows.
According to the council minutes, Kamloops had the most expensive on-street parking compared to similarly sized cities in the province.
The notice of motion to change the meter prices touches on that while high prices keep people from parking in one spot for too long, they also deter people from visiting the downtown.
