(UPDATE: Feb 15 @ 11:30 am): RCMP has confirmed that two people have been killed following a crash on the Trans Canada Highway in Kamloops this morning.
According to police, just before 10 am, a vehicle collided with a jack-knifed semi-trailer near Grand Boulevard. It is unknown how many vehicles were involved in the crash.
Investigators are on scene gathering evidence.
Eastbound traffic is being diverted onto Shuswap Road while one lane is open to westbound traffic between Holman Road and Grand Boulevard.
No further information will be released at this time.
(Original Story: Feb 15 @ 10:40 am): Residents looking to travel through Kamloops should be aware of a closure on the Trans Canada Highway.
According to Kamloops RCMP, a motor vehicle incident has part of Hwy closed in Valleyview. Police did not say if anyone was injured.
All eastbound lanes near Grand Boulevard are completely stopped. Crews are on scene and an assessment is in progress.

At this point, what caused the crash has yet to be determined. Residents should avoid the area if possible.
A second incident on Hwy 1 was also reported near Aberdeen Mall. Both Kamloops Fire Rescue and the BC Ambulance Service were on scene.
