Dead body found in the river near McArthur Island on Sunday

A dead body was found in the river on Sunday morning, say the RCMP.

The Kamloops RCMP were called to the 1700-block of Clifford Avenue on Sunday, around 7:10 am.

The caller reported that it appeared a dead person was in the water near a dock.

Police and the BC Coroners Service attended and began concurrent investigations, a news release says.

According to the RCMP detachment’s spokesperson, the initial investigation determine that the body had been in the water for “some time.”

“We are still working to confirm the person’s identity and notify his next of kin,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn in the release.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at (250) 828-3000 and reference file 2024-19632.
