Distraught woman in traffic briefly disrupts morning commute in Kamloops

A woman who held up morning traffic on a major Kamloops street this morning told police she was the victim of an assault.

She was allegedly distraught and trying to stop vehicles while walking in the 400 block of Victoria Street West shortly before 8 am.

Cpl. Dana Napier says a driver ended up pulling over to call the RCMP.

“Once the driver was pulled over, she was able to get more information from the woman who appeared to require police assistance,” noted Napier.

When officers arrived and spoke to the woman, they learned that she was allegedly the victim of an assault.

The RCMP continues to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information to contact the Kamloops detachment at 250-828-3000.
