Halloween is just around the corner and this weekend is sure to be full of trick or treating, parties and other fun activities.
With an increase in festivities expected this weekend, the RCMP will be increasing their patrols throughout the city to ensure trick or treaters are safe and the adults are celebrating responsibly.
“We want to encourage those planning on going out on Halloween to plan ahead to help keep the night safe,” said Corporal Dana Napier.

Children are reminded to never trick-or-treat alone and make sure they can be seen by drivers.
A few other tips parents and guardians can pass along include:
Be visible by wearing reflective clothing and carry a glow stick or flashlight
Stick together, go with an adult or with groups of friends
Know your route and stick to the plan
Stick to marked intersections when crossing streets
Stay outside, do not go into a house to accept treats
Drivers are reminded to keep an eye out for children and drive with a little extra caution this weekend, particularly on Friday night.
Parents are reminded to know who their children are going trick or treating with and when they plan on returning home.
People giving out candy are asked to keep their paths and sidewalks well lit and not blocked by decorations.
Residents are reminded to report any suspicious activity, including arson, vandalism or property damage, in their neighbourhood by contacting the Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000.
For emergencies, call 911.
