Mounties in Kamloops are searching for the driver who fled the scene after crashing an SUV into a pair of homes this weekend.
Police were called to the scene in the 600 block of Arbutus Street shortly before noon on Saturday.
Officers arrived to find the SUV on its side between two homes that had been damaged as a result of the collision.
While the driver had already fled the scene, a female passenger remained inside the overturned vehicle.
According to S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet, witnesses described the driver as an approximately 40-year-old Caucasian man estimated at 5’10” and 190 pounds. He was wearing a green shirt and black pants.
Shoihet noted that “he was last seen running westbound from the collision.”
An RCMP police dog attended the scene and assisted in an extensive search, but the man was not located.
“The investigation is continuing and police are asking area residents to review their CCTV footage between 11:25 am and 12:30 pm to ascertain if it caught either the collision or any person who may match the driver’s description,” Shoihet added.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-12417.
