Final stage of downtown Kamloops sanitary upgrade starts Monday

After seven months of detours, road closures and traffic impacts, the fifth and final phase of the City Centre Sanitary Upgrades Project will begin next week.

Crews will be shifting to the section of Lansdowne Street between 6th and 8th avenues on Monday.

This final stretch of the project is expected to be done by Nov. 15 and a new detour will be in place along Victoria Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained through the area.

Local traffic will be allowed within the 600-800 blocks of Lansdowne Street for people wanting to access businesses in the construction area, however.

Additionally, transit users should be aware the Lansdowne Transit Exchange will be moving to St. Paul Street between the 400 and 500 blocks during the final stage of the project.

Traffic can still access the area but there will be no on-street parking in the bus zones, the city says.
