If you’re looking for some nice and easy family plans this weekend, look no further than the Paramount Theatre.
The local branch of RE/MAX Real Estate will be hosting Flicks for Food, a movie fundraiser to support the Kamloops Food Bank, on Saturday.
The theatre will show two movies in the early afternoon and attendance is free, but the hope is that attendees don’t show up empty handed.
People are encouraged to bring funds and non-perishable food items to donate to the Kamloops Food Bank with winter on the horizon.
“Your generous contributions will help provide essential food supplies to individuals and families facing food insecurity in our community,” says the event page.
It will be a staggered start to the two movies, with doors opening at 1:30 pm before Top Gun Maverick begins at 2 pm and The Super Mario Bros Movie gets underway at 2:30 pm.
And while the event is free, there is obviously limited space in the theatre so people need to secure their tickets online with a maximum of six per family.
“We'll have a red carpet with a professional photographer to snap your photo like a movie star, kids costume contest and face painting from the Kamloops Art Party,” the event page adds.
“Plus, don't forget to bring money for the Paramount's famous buttery popcorn and the snacks for you to enjoy during the films!”
