Although it is now September and fall is just a few weeks away, Kamloops will be under a heat warning for a majority of the week.
Environment Canada said temperatures will be “very high” and pose a moderate risk to public health.
From Tuesday until Thursday, temperatures across the Fraser Canyon, South Thompson and North Thompson are expected to be in the mid to high 30s with overnight lows in the high teens.
That includes Kamloops, Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Spences Bridge and Lytton.
Environment Canada said the mini heat wave is due to a ridge of high pressure that is “anchored” over BC.
The warning advises people to check on family, friends and neighbours who may be at risk of heat related illness.
That includes seniors, people who live along, people with pre-existing health conditions and people with mental illness.
Some of the early signs of heat illness include feeling unwell, fatigue, thirst and a headache.
