Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for South Thompson as temperatures are expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius.
Today, daytime highs are expected to reach 35°C or higher with overnight lows of 18°C.
Some slightly cooler weather should be expected mid-week as an upper-level trough moves into the interior.
According to Environment Canada, these high temperatures are not out of the ordinary for this time of year, however, people should be aware of the health risks.
The risk of heat-related illnesses is greatly increased for young children, pregnant women, older adults, individuals with chronic illness and people working or exercising outdoors.
