Here’s where to drop off your Christmas tree

And just like that, it’s over! Christmas has come and gone and, unless you want to be the neighbour with lights still hanging in June, it’s time to start thinking about packing up the decorations until next year.

The City of Kamloops encourages residents to drop off their trees for composting, noting recycled Christmas trees save landfill space and the compost materials are used in city parks.

After making sure your tree is clean of any wires, tinsel, decorations or plastic, you can drop it off at one of these locations between Dec. 27 and Jan. 15:

  • Albert McGowan Park: 2025 Summit Drive (before 9pm)
  • Barnhartvale Yard Waste Depot: End of Eliza Road
  • Brocklehurst Park, 2470 Fleetwood Avenue
  • Cinnamon Ridge Compost Facility: 4.5 km past Airport on Tranquille Road
  • Dallas Fire Hall (#6): 5300 Dallas Drive
  • Juniper Park: Qu'Appelle Boulevard
  • Len Haughton Park: Lister Road - Heffley Creek
  • McArthur Island: 1665 Island Parkway - East of Sports Centre
  • McGill Rd Yard Waste Depot: Bunker Road
  • Rae-Mor ParkArab Run Road: Rayleigh
  • Westsyde Park: Franklin Road
  • Yacht Club: 1140 River Street
