With sunshine and highs of 38°C in the forecast this week, it’s hard to look ahead to Christmas activities.
Despite that, Downtown Kamloops (DK) has unveiled details for the city’s 45th annual Santa Claus Parade later this year.
The popular festive tradition will march through the heart of the city at 4 pm on Sunday, Nov. 23, with a theme of “Home for the Holidays.”
DK says it will celebrate the warmth, nostalgia and traditions that make the holiday season so special.
“It’s about what ‘home’ means to each of us, whether that’s gathering with loved ones, sharing cultural traditions or supporting the local businesses that bring our community to life,” a news release explains.
“Floats and participants are encouraged to bring this theme to life with creativity, highlighting the joy of togetherness, Canadian pride and the magic of the holidays from childhood to today.”
Attendees will be treated to music, performances, dazzling floats and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus, while those unable to make it can watch a livestream of the event from home courtesy of Ninth Lab.
Applications to participate in the parade open on Sept. 9, 2025, with spots being limited and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
For more information or to apply to be a part of the parade, visit the DK website or contact Alexandra Eaket via email.
