UPDATE: Hwy 5 reopens after 3 people killed in multi-vehicle crash north of Kamloops

(UPDATE: June 17 @ 5 am): Traffic along the highway, which was reopened yesterday evening, is flowing normally once again.

(Original story: June 16 @ 12:25 pm): Two adults and a child have died after a multi-vehicle crash north of Kamloops.

Police said a semi truck was involved in the collision.

It happened at about 11 am this morning along Hwy 5, near Vinsulla.

The cause of the crash is not known.

Police said their investigation is in the “very early stages.”

Hwy 5 remains closed in both directions and motorists have been warned to expect “lengthy delays.”

The highway had only been reopened for a short while when the crash occurred.

It had been closed following a head-on collision between a semi and a pickup truck in Darfield at about 8:20 pm on Wednesday.

The passenger of the pickup truck died, while the driver was injured.

That crash is also under investigation.
