Born and raised in Kamloops for almost 29 years, Brooke Hamer-Jackson has a deep connection to the community. As the owner of Wiggle Pups, she has turned her love for animals into a thriving business. We had the chance to learn more about Brooke, her passions, and what makes Kamloops such a special place for her.

Getting to Know Brooke

Brooke enjoys spending time with her parents, making the most of every moment with them. If given the chance to travel anywhere right now, she would head to Vancouver Island—a favourite destination that always seems just out of reach due to her busy schedule.

Her favourite local store in Kamloops is Tumbleweed Toys—a haven for fellow collectors like herself. The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere make it a top pick. When she’s not working, Brooke loves camping and swimming, activities that allow her to enjoy the great outdoors. One of her favorite spots in Kamloops is the BC Wildlife Park, and when she needs some alone time, she enjoys visiting Padova and Tranquille Creek with her dogs.

Overcoming Challenges & Finding Inspiration

Brooke describes herself as someone who frequently finds herself in embarrassing situations, but she takes it all in stride. One of her most inspiring moments was starting her own business at a young age, navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship, especially as a woman.

Her favorite childhood memories revolve around camping and houseboating on Shuswap Lake, where her family used to own a houseboat company. She believes that Kamloops is great because of its distinct four seasons, and she’d love to see more support for the unhoused population and those struggling with the opioid crisis.

Passion for Business & Giving Back

As the founder of Wiggle Pups, Brooke combined her love for animals with her desire to be her own boss. Her goal for the business is to continue growing, expand service offerings, and eventually buy a farm.

One of her biggest challenges has been dealing with anxiety and fear of the future, but she embraces the unpredictability of life with her go-to saying: "It is what it is." When asked if she’d do things differently if she could start over, she admits she’s 50/50—some things she’d change, others she wouldn’t.

Brooke is an open book, always ready for a good chat. Something many people might not know about her? She has two pet pigs!

Brooke is a firm believer in shopping locally, emphasizing that supporting small businesses directly helps families in the community. Her proudest accomplishment? Graduating high school—something she once doubted would happen!
