In Focus | Kaeli Chikowski of Kaeli & Co. Photo

Meet Kaeli Chikowski, the heart and lens behind Kaeli & Co. Photo, a Kamloops-based photography business that’s all about genuine connection, authenticity, and creating a safe space for every kind of love.

Originally from Saskatchewan, Kaeli made Kamloops home in October 2021. Though new to the city at the time, she’s made a big impact since then—not only through her growing photography business but also through the friendships and community she's built.

“I started Kaeli & Co. because I had a not-so-great experience with my own wedding photographer,” she shares. “I wanted to do things differently—create an inclusive, safe space where couples could feel comfortable being themselves.”

That commitment to inclusion shines through in every session Kaeli shoots, from cozy elopements to big, joy-filled weddings. Whether it’s capturing intimate moments or working with Pride Kamloops, Kaeli brings her full heart and creativity to the table. She describes her business as being for “untraditional, laid-back couples who value genuine connection and intimate moments.”

But the path hasn’t always been easy. Like many entrepreneurs, Kaeli has wrestled with imposter syndrome, especially while building a business from scratch in a brand new city. “I’m proud of starting something in a place where I didn’t know a single soul,” she says. “It’s been so rewarding.”

Her work has not only led to professional growth but also personal inspiration—especially in forming a strong support system of local women. “Having a group of women who lift you up is a game changer in both life and business.”

When she’s not behind the lens, you’ll likely find Kaeli exploring Peterson Creek Park, indulging her love for art (embroidery and photography are current faves), or checking out local gems like Crooked Crown. “I love the wide range of products and the inclusivity of the brand,” she says.

And while her bucket list includes shooting a helicopter elopement, visiting the Dolomites, and starting a family, Kaeli says her biggest dream is already unfolding: using her creativity to make others feel seen, safe, and celebrated.

She also leaves us with a simple but powerful reminder:

“A purchase from Amazon is nothing, but a purchase from a small business could make their day—and pay their bills.”

We’re so lucky to have Kaeli in Kamloops, not only capturing memories but helping make the city more inclusive and connected, one photo at a time.
