An investigation has been launched at the Canadian Mental Health Association in Kamloops.
According to Jonny Morris, CEO of the divisional office of CMHA BC, the formal investigation was launched on September 4th, and executive director Christa Mullaly was put on paid administrative leave.
"There are very limited things I can say about the investigation apart from confirming that it is underway," said Morris.
"The actual formal investigation, which has been initiated between my office and the CMHA Kamloops Board officially got underway on September the 4th of this year."
Morris adds that CMHA BC has taken over day-to-day operations at the Kamloops branch. He mentioned the investigation comes after complaints about workplace management.
"One of the most important priorities for me and the team can be to ensure uninterrupted client services and the continued safe and effective operations at the branch. The branch is fully operational, and I think I heard circulation that another local organization was taking it over, but that's not true."
Morris went on to say he hopes the issue is resolved within the next few days or weeks, stating that the more 160 people the Kamloops branch helps every day were the top priority.
"The facts are that my office has checked in to support the local branch because it's really important to staff and also the clients that they serve, so we serve over 160 clients every day as a branch, are feeling cared for, and that the services they count on are available."
"The staff there are working very hard during arguably a bit of a challenging time to ensure the clients get their services and needs met."
Morris couldn't respond to if the Kamloops Branch would be looking for a new executive director.
"The imperative is to be providing this level of support while this branch needs it... I anticipate resolution within the coming days to weeks."
