The City of Kamloops will be celebrating Waste Reduction Week today through Oct. 21.
This national event aims to encourage residents to be mindful of the social, economic and environmental impacts of consumption and waste.
Each day of the week will have a waste reduction theme, which will be posted on the city’s social media channels.
The city will also hold two key events including:
Here you will learn how to make your house more energy efficient and water-wise as well as find out how to reduce your garbage output. The course will run on Oct. 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the TCC meeting room D.
Bring your broken appliances, electronics, wood, textiles, small engines and bicycles to the Repair Café on Oct. 20. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Habitat for Humanist ReStore.
During Waste Reduction Week, residents are encouraged to “ditch the disposables” and commit to bringing their own containers, mugs or bags. Click here to take the B.Y.O. pledge.
