After six years, the managing director of the Kamloops Airport will be moving on to another role in Ontario.
On Thursday, the Kamloops Airport Authority Society, Kamloops Airport and Vantage Group announced that Ed Ratuski will be stepping down from his role.
Ratuski has accepted another leadership role at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport in Hamilton, Ont.
He joined the Kamloops Airport in 2019.
In a news release, Kamloops Airport Authority Society President and City Councillor Bill Sarai said Ratuski has been a key driver in the development of several initiatives on airport lands and working to enhance new air services.
“We wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” Sarai said.
“I extend my thanks to the team here at Kamloops Airport, the Society, and the Kamloops community for making my time here as Managing Director so rewarding,” said Ed Ratuski, outgoing Managing Director, Kamloops Airport.
“I look forward to this new opportunity in Hamilton and wish Jim the very best in his new role.”
Jim Moroz, who was born and raised in Kamloops has been named the new managing director.
Moroz has been with the airport team since 2013 after spending eight years in civil infrastructure project management.
He also serves on the board of directors for The ASK Wellness Society.
Vantage Group said that Moroz’s most recent position as manager of airport facilities and safety involved the development and delivery of the airport's capital program.
He also managed and led the airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting program and personnel.
“We congratulate Jim on his new role as Managing Director,” continued Sarai. “We look forward to continuing to work together for the continued success and growth of Kamloops Airport.”
The change follows the signing of an extended lease between Kamloops Airport Ltd. and Vantage Group in November 2024.
Vantage Group said that under Moroz’s leadership the airport will continue to be an important travel hub and economic driver for the City of Kamloops and overall Thompson-Nicola region.
“I am delighted to step into this leadership role at Kamloops Airport,” said Jim Moroz, Managing Director, YKA. “I look forward to continuing to deliver a safe, efficient, and enjoyable experience for all passengers, and serving our community as a regional connector and jobs creator.”
