The Kamloops Blazers are having a picture-perfect offseason, this time signing two more of their top prospects.
General Manager Matt Bardsley announced on Thursday that the team agreed to standard player agreements with second-round selection Dylan Ernst and third-round pick Tye Spencer.
Ernst, the 6'1" goalie from Weyburn, Saskatchewan played with the Bantam AA Weyburn Red Wings where he had a 2.99 goals against average and .918 save percentage. He is expected to play with the Moose Jaw Generals of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League this season.
“Dylan is an athletic goaltender who has a presence in the net along with the ability to make difficult saves look routine,” said Bardsley. “We are fortunate to have an excellent goaltending coach in Dan De Palma, who can assist in maximizing the development of Dylan.”
Spencer, a Saskatoon native, had 59 goals and 33 assists for 92 points in 31 games last season.
“Tye is a dynamic forward who plays with good speed and is hungry to score goals. He is quick on the attack and has high-end puck skills, with a quick release combined with excellent accuracy.”
The Blazers have now signed three of their top four picks from the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft after announcing the signing of defenseman Mats Lindgren earlier this week.
