Canada Day is just around the corner and the City of Kamloops is encouraging all residents to come out and enjoy the festivities at Riverside Park.
There will be a full day of culture, arts, music and activities to enjoy.
The Lions Club’s annual pancake breakfast will kick off the day from 7-10:30 am.
The main event will start at the Rotary Bandshell at 10:45 am, starting with the multicultural flag parade followed by Drum Canada at 11 am.
Following that, the opening ceremony will be held from 11:10 am to 12:30 pm.
Residents will then be able to wander the park, explore local artisan vendors, enjoy a wide variety of food, relax in the beer garden and watch several performances that are scheduled.
Art in the Park will be happening at the west end of the park near the Rose Garden.
Music and dance performances will be hosted at various stages throughout the park.
Over on the east end of the park, kids can play at the inflatable Kids’ Fun Zone.
Fireworks will finish off the day with a show scheduled for dusk, however, that will greatly depend on the weather conditions.
So far, no announcement has been made banning fireworks in the area and, according to the BC Wildfire Service, the Kamloops area is at a “low” fire danger rating.
The best spot to view the fireworks shows is from Rivers Trail in Riverside Park.

The Kamloops Bike Valet will also be on site and set up at the tennis courts, near the west end of the park.
